BTU capacity determines how much space a unit can effectively condition. A 6,000 BTU mini-split covers up to 250 sq ft; a 24,000 BTU unit handles up to 1,500 sq ft. An undersized or oversized system wastes energy and wears out faster — SMS sizes every install for your actual space.
